[He opens the door immediately, smiling as he shuts it behind him. Arthur's apartment is a lot messier than it usually is, but not terrible. Likewise, Arthur looks a little tired, but other than that he seems okay. It's a testament to their friendship that Arthur's allowing him to see him in a t-shirt, jeans, and socks. His hair is slicked back as ever. Penrose is asleep on the couch.] Hey, Hikaru. Come on in.
I'm sorry the apartment's a mess. Can I get you anything to drink or eat?
[He grabs a glass and wine and pours Hikaru a glass. He doubts Eames will come over tonight, but he wants to be sober for it if he does, so he abstains. Setting the glass on the coffee table, he sits in the chair next to the couch. Penrose loves the attention, crawling into Hikaru's lap while purring loudly.]
Uh, right. [He fidgets, obviously uncomfortable about his question.] How did you know you were in love? Eames... asked me if I was in love with him and I didn't know. I've never been in love before.
[ Quiet for a bit, and filling that up by taking a sip from his glass. ]
It sort of varied every time. [ Softly. ] I guess the general theme, though, was that everything they did just had so much more power over me. More meaning.

Btw, I'm going to your apartment.
[ Nope, not asking for permission. He's going. ]
no subject
[Because he's not going to turn away company.]
Maybe I should wait to ask you then.
no subject
[ Because he's going to cheat BUT IT'S NOT LIKE YOU KNOW WHERE HE'S COMING FROM, SO...
Anyway. Ahem. In precisely ten minutes, he's knocking on your door. ]

[ Smiling as he steps in, but he's watching the other man with open concern. ]
How about we drink and eat what you want to today?
no subject
[He's surprised by the second part, though.]
Hm? Oh, I'm not hungry. Anything for you?
[He's falling back into the habit of not being hungry when he's stressed. He couldn't possibly eat after sending that text.]

[ Wandering over to Penrose, because cats and Hikaru Shinta are a thing. He won't disturb the darling too much, beyond pets. ]
So what did you want to ask me?
no subject
Uh, right. [He fidgets, obviously uncomfortable about his question.] How did you know you were in love? Eames... asked me if I was in love with him and I didn't know. I've never been in love before.

Oh.
Well. ]
That's... tricky to answer, mostly because it's difficult to describe.
[ Now he's thinking on it. ]

[ Trailing off a moment, glancing over at Arthur. ]
The fact that we're talking about them again kind of overrules the possibility that what you have for each of them could just be crushes.

[He nods, though.] Thank you. For coming over and for answering the question.

Anyway. ]
Well, I'm ALSO here to commiserate with you and offer a sympathetic ear. So.
