[When he comes around, he has two nice glasses full of what she asked for. One for him, one for her.

Setting one in front of her as he settles down beside her. Giving her another Look.]

[ She straightens up as soon as he's approaching. ]

[ She trails off. Accepting the drink and taking a short sip, then looks to her side at him. ]

Whaaat. [ It's a cute whine but underneath that, she wishes she could take back what just took place. She doesn't like losing her cool but at the same time, she wants her Daddy to know how she feels about it. ]

Just waiting on you, really.

[...And checking how you are, because Concerned Adoptive Father is Concerned.]

[ A small huff while she's gathering her thoughts. How would she even begin to summarize how she feels? ]

It's very unfair. [ Tapping her nails on the glass. You can see plain as day that she's getting increasingly frustrated as the drumming gets faster. ]

[Flicking a glance at that, but generally keeping his attention focused on the expression on your face and the way that you sound.]

[ Shooting a sarcastic look at him as if to say Duh. but she luvs you. <3 ]

[He doesn't answer immediately, electing, instead, to take a drag from his cigarette. When he speaks, his voice is calm and even. Maybe a little too calm.]

What makes you say that?

[ She's staring off with a serious look on her face. ]

Don't tell me you think it isn't unfair.

[ Because Hikaru, she thinks it's pretty much self-explanatory. But if he really wants to know what Brianna really thinks, she's indulge him. ]

I've always believed that fairness is a difficult thing to measure with regard to anyone.

[It's an honest answer. He's lived too long to put a lot of stock into that sort of thing.]

Besides, I did make a lot of my own decisions. Those had consequences, of course.

That doesn't discount the fact that I want to put a bullet through some people's heads.

[ Resentful sigh. ]

Whatever. I hope you do know that now that I'm in your life, even if past is past you have no choice but to let me in. This time I won't let anything unfair happen to you.

[ Even if that means stopping you from making stupid decisions, Hikaru >:( ]

[That makes him smile a little at that, and the reason why he looks away from you and focuses, for a moment, on his cigarette is because he's honestly overwhelmed by the feeling he gets after hearing your words.

It'll never cease to amaze him, how warm and loving people could be.]

I'll try not to regret making you my daughter, then.

[ Scrunching her nose at him before breaking into a smile. ]

Geez, you better not, or else! [ Jokingly huffing and crossing her arms. ]

[Well, she certainly seems to be better.]

Are you okay now?

[Always and ever concerned, this one.]

[ A sad sigh, which then turns into a sad pout. ]

A little... [ She trails off. There's still some bitterness in there. ]

[Well, now you're going to have him shifting over to reel you gently in with one arm. The better to plant a kiss on your forehead, right?]

I'm okay. It's always going to turn out okay.

[ She slightly dips her head down to make it easier for Hikaru, then looks back up at him. ]

I'm optimistic that they will. Specially since I'm around. I love you, okay daddy?

I know you do. And I thank you for that.

[He means it, even if it's hard not to look a little sad. He's still convinced, in many ways, that loving him is a bad idea.

He respects your decision, though, as he respects the decisions that every other person in positions similar to or exactly like yours have made. It isn't his choice to make: he's learning to understand that.]

[ She means that. Though it's Brianna's choice to feel that way for her daddy, somehow... Things just fell into place. ]

[He'll just smile at her there, because he's one to believe that gratitude should always be given, in whatever form.]
