Waking the Dead 2.0 || August 13, 2063 || Saturday || The Mordechai Home

[So before the real work in Europe starts, you've all got a free day to roam around the Mordechai Home and its rather beautiful surroundings. Everyone is more than welcome to stay the night.

The Cooley Peninsula's a lovely place, and this particular section is even prettier than the rest of the area. The house, in itself, is pretty interesting too.

Knock yourselves out, guys. This is turning out to be a pretty sweet vacation, isn't it?]


DESCRIPTION STUFF:
+ The house is an old-style Irish home made of brick and covered in ivy. It's got two floors (all five bedrooms are upstairs, and each one has a bathroom), an attic, and a basement. Everything's antique in here, and there is pretty much NOTHING Japanese in the house except Hikaru. The binding motifs: Christian symbols with a Celtic twist, blades, brambles and water.
+ First floor's got the kitchen with the dining area right next to it, and the living room with a fireplace. There's a porch up front.
+ The attic is full of old and interesting shit, and looks like a study. Hikaru's Brotherhood of Violence stuff is here.
+ The basement is the strangest area: half of it is a workshop-cum-armory with a map that expands an entire wall. It's full of old notes, post-its and photographs. Observers will note that this was Alistair's project from way back when - the beginnings of how he always managed to keep track of Hikaru. The other half is under lock and key; the door's a vault. It feels cold beyond it. VERY cold.
+ There's a beach that's about a three minute's walk down from the hill that the house is on. The ancestral Mordechai cemetery's a ten minute walk from the house, through rolling hills. Alistair's wife is buried there, as are Maes' wife and kids, Abel, and both Seth Mordechais.
+ ...And then there are fields for miles and miles, and mountains in the distance.
+ The Kearney home is actually a fifteen minute drive away from the Mordechai home. Nobody's in, though.

Robb Kearney, Godhand stationed at Seth's Rest. I like him.

[ Tilting his head now. ]

What's he like?

[ Because that's really interesting. Then again, he figures bloodlines, etcetcetc in the Vigil is kind of a thing? ]

[ It's about two seconds before he laughs and says -- ]

Seriously though, I can't peg Robb for anything. He's like Maes and Alistair and Hikaru in so many ways.

[ Okay, he wants to hear this. ]

Go on.

[ He won't tell you that he forgets sometimes that Hikaru's actually... a Mordechai. That he was Alistair's son once upon a time. It's... it slips his mind, okay. ]

Well, think about it like this... He's a Godhand who's got an entire base full of...

[ He trails off for a second. ]

Actually no, let me revise that. He was like hanging out with a much younger version of Maes. Although... He was a Devil, like Aniki.

[ He is poised to talk your ear off. ]

He asked where you were, too.

[larue]

[ And this one's going to pull himself back to sit on that bed. He'll gesture that you join him since this catch-up was overdue. He's thinking on what you said though: a younger version of Maes? He's trying to picture it and that's... kind of intimidating? If that makes any sense at all.

He ends up missing that bit about Robb having the same Arcana as Hikaru though, because that last bit snagged his attention more-- ] W-why did he...

[ Of course the man would ask, LaRue. You're the Hounds' blade leader.

Does he look sheepish and like he's worrying that he might have gotten in trouble for being absent for the initial introductions? Maybe. Your elder brother is kind of a worrywart puppy when it comes to his responsibilities ( read: all of you. ) ]

[ He actually grabs a pillow and flops onto the bed. ]

It was cool though, he sicced me, Taning and Bri at the Hunters, train them up. I'd never even seen a Hunter who couldn't shoot straight at thirty paces before.

[larue]

[ And this is Josh flopping on his back and folding his hands behind his head. ]

Dude, [ yes. This Face. ] I can't shoot, period. What does that make me?

[ True enough, kiddo: this one's never done anything ranged. His Sin-Eater shit don't count. ]

A specialist. You're a Sin-Eater who has several other abilities at his disposal. Some of them were Sleepwalkers, and had deficits in their combat abilities. The grace of Elaine can only get one so far.

[ Did your kid brother just give a combat assessment? ]

First chance I get, I'm going back to Seth's Rest and helping them with their firearms training.

[larue]

[ He's going to watch you and try his best not to toss you a shit-eating grin because it's actually really nice to hear you talk like this.

Ducking his head a little now and chuckling softly. ] Sounds like a plan, kiddo.

[ He crinkles his nose and just flops around. ]

You're coming with, of course. I just get the feeling there're budding tacticians who could use the pep talk.

[larue]

I'd like that, actually. [ A beat. ] Coming along, that is.

Seth's Rest sounds really interesting.

[ktotheatothez]

It was!

[ He goes on to describe the very surreal experience of teaching other operatives, flopped shoulder-to-shoulder with you while he shows off some videos and dossiers to go along with it. ]

It was so... un...real....

[ You would know by now that Kaz is weak against Jet Lag. Portal Lag is easier for him to deal with. His receding voice and heavier presence on your arm probably means he's fallen asleep. On your shoulder. Again. ]
