[ And after a long stretch of zero response, he's setting that phone down a bit to make coffee.

Maybe he pushed too hard? Sometimes, he's not so sure.

[ Damn it, self. 8T YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE SULKING. ]

straight home after clock-out. got it.

[ He can worry about whether you'll let him sleep beside you later. ]

[ He won't respond after that, although it's mostly because he's got a lot of ground that he wants to cover in the office. He doesn't come home for dinner, though, but you knew about that already: he told you about his plans earlier that day. ]

[ Yes, he remembers. Doesn't stop him from running to the store to pick up more chocolate ( they had Meiji on stock, he bought a huge box ) which he leaves in a fridge. You'll see the tiny note he's pinned there, a small: I put one with my name on it, the rest is yours though :)

He's home about twenty-minutes after shift. He was delayed largely because he had to help shove a few kids into cabs before he got his own. ]

[ First thing you'll notice: no Naoki in his basket.

Next thing: everything you need for your usual cup of coffee has been neatly laid out. There is also a bar of chocolate from that box you bought with a note.

Your fiance is curled up in bed with the kitten. Whether he's just dozing or actually sleeping, you'll have to check. ]

[ Usually he takes one cup of coffee in the evenings just to wind down. One, before his last shower, before he curls up beside the comfort of you.

He'll forego it tonight though, pick up the bar of chocolate and that note and smile before wandering into the bedroom. Screw the couch. He wants his fiance. You know he can never sleep right without you. ]

[ The scent of you close by is enough to make him crack an eye open. He sucks in a breath, sighs, and wriggles a bit to make space for you. Naoki doesn't even stir. ]

Hullo.

[ That's further muffled by the blankets and pillows. ]

Hi. [ Dropping a kiss to your forehead now, sleepyhead. ]

Did I wake you?

[ Yeah, he's going to settle down with you first. He'll get up to change and everything in a little bit. ]

Mm, s'okay.

[ Once you've stretched out, he's shifting again, wrapping his arms around your middle and drawing himself in close. It's dark, but you might be able to catch the relieved smile that touches his lips. ]

That was a bribe, by the way.

What'd you need a bribe for?

[ Teasing, but you'll be able to tell his own relief. Arm around you now, to keep you close as he presses his nose into your hair to breathe you in. ]

I love you. [ A beat. ] Work go okay?

Mm-hm. And it was a bribe to keep you from recording me.

[ Declaring that as he settles down even more against you. ]

[larue]

[ Three kisses to your brow. ]

I was only teasing. [ Mostly, anyway. ] I won't record you. Just promise me I'll see you with the chocolate at least once.

[ He wants a memory of that. He wants it so he can hold it close. ]

I'll think about it.

[ Which means yes, especially since he's topping that statement off with him burrowing a little more against you.

Apparently that was still possible. ]

[ If there was a picture under 'Adorable' in the dictionary, it should have a photo of you right now -- but it won't so he'll just nuzzle your cheek and ear, lips catching on the topmost curve. ]

You should sleep.

[ He woke you. You also start your day earlier than he does. ]

[ Because you still have to shower and change and stuff. He can wait. ]
