[This one disappears for about thirty minutes, and returns as quietly as he left with two briefcases. He doesn't explain where he went, but from how he ducks into Hikaru's room for about fifteen minutes after that, it can probably be inferred that he fetched a few things from Falner.

Looks like he'll be staying at the Tower while he has taken control of his Brother's body. You're usually going to spot him hovering around, smoking, working through a glass of rum, eyes crimson-ringed and glowing oddly in all lights (or lack thereof) watching... who knows what he's watching? And that suit he's wearing - three-piece, black, pin-striped, with ghostly faces and smoke occasionally moving over the "fabric" - is pretty nice, creepiness aside.

Please excuse him if you find him suddenly popping in on you. It's just what he does.]

[Taning just smiles at that, agreeing internally. Hubris is a subjective concept anyway. Maybe Brig is even right. Maybe Brig is right precisely because he can see the problem from a non-mage perspective.

At least, I guess, this fight is a lot more important. It's no longer some petty world leader kicking off a war for some petty reason.

Yeah. [ A drag ] World War II was pretty bad for me already what with the Nazi's using supernaturals to give them an edge in a political war [ Exhale ] but this fight that's been going on since the Breaking of the Veil... well, it's terrorism on a whole new level. Any ideas what the actors now could want?

After a while:]

You know what? I have no idea, other than the total destruction of the world. Which I suppose makes things worse, but also better? Worse, because obviously, but also better, because we know what we want, and there won't be any holding back, nor any doubt as to whether they should be eliminated.

[ Brig nods in thought ]

Do you think Grendal is really out to destroy the world?

[ He thinks back on all the records ]

I think they're out to remodel it in their image. A sick, twisted image, but their own. So... I suppose we're not done with petty causes just yet.

[And that's not so bad, is it? Better to have an enemy that is up front about what it wants. It makes them so much easier to target.]

Kind of felt that too.

[ A drag of his cigarette. ]

Sounds like something people might compare to a fantasy novel or a video game.

[ A slow, thoughtful exhale ]

But humor me if I say it reminds me of Hitler. [ Different enemy. Same deranged, malevolent designs ]

[That actually makes him laugh a little bit, because of how right you are, even down to the other parts.]

World we live in, it is practically a fantasy setting. But we all know what usually happens to a Hitler in such settings: blown apart by machine guns, blown up by errant magic, stuff like that. It never seems to work out for someone like that, and it doesn't seem like it'll work differently in this real world. We're around to make sure of that.

[He claps Brig on the back, at that.]

[ A laugh ] Yeah, thankfully, there are people like us to make sure of that. [ Brig takes a sip of his beer ]
