Waking the Dead 2.0 || August 19, 2063 || Friday

[This one disappears for about thirty minutes, and returns as quietly as he left with two briefcases. He doesn't explain where he went, but from how he ducks into Hikaru's room for about fifteen minutes after that, it can probably be inferred that he fetched a few things from Falner.

Looks like he'll be staying at the Tower while he has taken control of his Brother's body. You're usually going to spot him hovering around, smoking, working through a glass of rum, eyes crimson-ringed and glowing oddly in all lights (or lack thereof) watching... who knows what he's watching? And that suit he's wearing - three-piece, black, pin-striped, with ghostly faces and smoke occasionally moving over the "fabric" - is pretty nice, creepiness aside.

Please excuse him if you find him suddenly popping in on you. It's just what he does.]

OOC Notes:
+ Drop starters as you please! I'll have Death haunt you accordingly. ♥
+ Feel free to do other stuff among yourselves here as well.
+ Do note that Makoto's out and solid for this evening too, so you can bug him or ping me if you want him to come around and bother you.

[ Ohhh. It dawns on Brig as to what those suitcases are. Satsuki is staying in Hikaru's quarters in Falner ]

Well, technically she has to get used to that since you and Brother Hikaru are always together. But that's thoughtful of you nonetheless, sir.

[ Brigade doesn't move. Death has chosen to put some distance between them. Death will approach him if he wants to.

It is amusing though to Brig that he does hope Death becomes more comfortable and comes closer. All his life, he's been fighting to keep himself and his comrades-in-arms as far away as possible from his grasp. ]

Well, everyone's busy doing their own things, sir. I'm guessing most are resting after this long day we've had. They need their peace and quiet like I do mine.

[ He takes a drag of his cigarette ]

I like to think alone sometimes. The rhythm of the world is nice company. It's all I used to have really. So I pay my respects to it every now and then.

Does that thoughtful noise sound like Kasumi's thoughtful noise?:D :))

[ Philosopher Brig: On! ] I don't really think I've truly heard it as it is, sir. [ A thoughtful pause ] I've tried my best though, I'd like to think.

It's all I've ever done for the better part of my life; tried to find my place in it, and understand it while I go along. [ He'd like to think the song is getting clearer too. He's had a lot of help from a lot of people. ]

Ahmagahd! Must toggle that somehow if ever he does it again.:))

Uhmm, thank you, sir. [ He smiles at Brother Death. He appreciates the compliment. It's reassuring. ] I still haven't lost hope that people will slowly learn to appreciate things too. One day maybe it really will be a freer, more understanding world.

Humans, sir? Or Prometheans?

[ Brig, truthfully, likes to believe that he is both. That they are not mutually exclusive ]

Or did you mean all of us Mortals in general?

[ Because an Abstract seeing them all as inherently the same has crossed his mind ]

Finite beings. Brig isn't actually averse to the word. He's always felt that people, in general, fought harder because they instinctively knew they only had so long to live. They were all, as literature would say, shooting stars ]

What are the worst ways you've seen life wasted, Brother?

[ He is genuinely curious. This is a font of knowledge and wisdom sitting a ways from him. A timeless being with perspectives people possibly couldn't even imagine. ]

One off the top of your head then? Not necessarily the worst, but maybe one that you think would be enlightening to me, or even the Hounds in general? [ He feels like a child, asking his father to tell him a story. But one which he would eagerly take from someone he knows knows more. ]

[ Brig takes it in and nods. Taking a long drag as well. ]

Yeah, [ He remembers some soldiers who would just freeze on the middle of the field. Some who'd just take their own lives. It's heavy in the chest and it's not the smoke. He tries to blow the feeling out. It's still there ] giving up is easy.

[ A short pause and he adds ] I'd like to believe people [ finite beings ] are good-natured enough though, to help pull their fellows up when they think they're at their ropes end.

Yes, sir, [ A nod and a blink as he let's names and faces of all the good people he know flash briefly in his mind ] I do.

After everything I've seen and been through in my short-lived life, I hold onto the belief that the world and its people are inherently good.
